GX1 BIOS upgrade results in Processor Mismatch
Yes, I got bit by this one, too... I have a 1 GHz processor (you'll notice that there are no warnings about this anywhere - next time I'll check the forums first).
Does anyone know the latest version of BIOS that I can install and not run into this? Will A08 work?

You must use a Pentiumii or Pentium3 266 - 600Mhz.
Set the jumper to 266 Mhz and then put in AN Old cpu and downgrade to A07.

Pentium 2 and Pentium 3 are pin compatible, so you can use either - you just need to make sure the circuit card has the same shape. For example, my mini-tower GX1 has a "tabbed" processor module.
In order to put the A07 BIOS back in you'll have to boot from a floppy disk. That's because Windows won't let you change the BIOS out from under it. I was able to create a DOS boot disk on my old Win98 PC. I used the "format" command, and told it to create a boot disk and copy only the system files.
Download and copy the A07 BIOS executable onto the boot disk. Once you've booted to DOS you just invoke the executable by typing its name.
It's not too bad once you've got all the pieces ready to go. Good luck!
