Dimension 4400 BIOS upgrade with CPU upgrade??

Hello all:

I am planning on upgrading my system CPU to a P4 2.8GHz 400FSB in the near future.  I have done a 'board search' of BIOS upgrades for my model and have read the great postings.  Just trying to make sure I don't have any 'surprises' when I install the CPU.  Is anyone aware of a need for BIOS upgrade for my system?  Any other pearls of wisdom also appreciated.

Thank you for any information,
B4runo

According to the information you have listed you're already using the latest BIOS version for the 4400 model.  Since the 2002 release of BIOS version A06 there have been no other BIOS versions released and I would suspect there won't be.

For additional information about upgrading the processor you might want to post your planned upgrade over in the Dimension - Upgrade Hardware forum.  That forum is very popular and visited frequently by a variety of processor upgrade gurus.  That would be the best source for advice and tips concerning your upgrade.

Majestic:

Thanks for the A06 BIOS info.  I was trying to cover all of my bases.  Your info is much appreciated.

I have been posting, searching, viewing the Dimension - Upgrade Hardware forum for some time now.  It was there that I recently found out about renewed availability of the P4, 2.8GhHz, 400FSB, 512K processor at newegg.  And for a more reasonable price, to boot!  I know that my system is getting somewhat dated, I am trying to infuse a little more life into it.  There have been some excellent and informative postings about CPU upgrades on the forum.  SpongeBob, in particular, has a great upgrade site for 8200s, and much of that same info is applicable to the 4400 model (with some notable exeptions).   Recently 'dankirk' and 'Props' posted some great threads about 8200 upgrades.  Forum members should check them out if they are interested.

Grazie again for your time,

B4runo
