Cannot find server or DNS Error

Hello:

I have Windows XP and my internet explorer constantly displays this error message "Cannot Find Server or DNS Error" how can I fix this error message with Windows XP? The only posts I see is with Windows 95 & 98 but not XP.

Here is my information!

Hi,

DNS is provided by your access provider. If you have DNS problems then you must contact your ISP.
To be sure if it really is a DNS issue try this.
Go to a site that won't come up. Find the number address of that site and use that instead if the www.name.com. If the address works using the number address and not the www address then your problem is a DNS issue.

An example:
http://www.myrosa.com
equals
63.151.147.82

ok i have the same problem. i tried to view dell support alerts and some other web sites but i get the message at the bottom of the page : cannot find server or dns error internet explorer. i dont know if this had anything to do with me trying to hook up a wireless router or not but it didnt work so i took it off. everthing was fine till then. not to good at computers yet still learning.so maybe something isnt right there? i dont know. i need help to fix this.i dont know if it is a server problem or dns how can i check both ways?i did try to trouble shoot and one of them came back with your computer name might already exsist try renaming it or something like that . but i didnt do it said i could have more problems with not viewing internet. im at a loss here . help!!!!!!!!!!!

Replying to a post that is about 1.5 years old is not a good way to get help on a new problem.  Next time start a new thread rather than replying to an ancient one.  Try running winsockfix for Windows XP from the Here and if that doesn't work try lspfix from Here

i am sory i didnt notice the dates here . i was just so frustrated . i will pay  more i will try your suggestions. close attention. thank you for the help.
