SMS Alert not working

One of the available alert action options is to send an SMS Text Message. According to the inline help:

  • Send an SMS message:

    1. Click the SMS cell corresponding to the alert policy.
    2. In the Alert Actions: SMS dialog box, type phone number.
    3. Click Finish. A tick mark is displayed in the cell. SMS message is sent when an alert is received that meets the set policy criteria.

I've created an alert policy which is to send any type of alert from any device (small test environment) to SMS to my phone number but am not receiving any SMS Messages.

I am using the standard international format for my mobile number for Australia: 614xxxxxxxx

Am I using the wrong format here? I am also curious about what mechanism is being used to send the text? Is Dell providing an SMS gateway or something?

Hi, thanks for the question.

It looks like the SMS feature is enabled only for US-based carriers.  I'll get that updated in the online doc.  I wonder if you can use an Email policy with the phone number as part of the email address.  Some of the US carriers have email gateways and will email to cell.  Though some of the formatting is lost.
