The con of delivery times with Dell
I ordered a new computer as mine is dying and I need a new one for an impending business trip. Found the one I wanted and chose it because it said it was a 2-3 Business days delivery. When I ordered paid it then said it would be delivered in 16 days. I phoned up to cancel and was told 'oh don't worry, that is just an estimate, we will expedite your order and you will have it in a few days' Well I still don't have it and now I will have to go and buy one in the shop as I need it before I travel. I should have gone to PC world or bought off Amazon where I would have had a PC next day. I think Dell are misleading customers saying 2-3 business days for delivery and then taking weeks! Very unhappy customer!

The delivery time frame is just an estimate with a whole host of factors that can speed up or delay shipping.

Well quoting 2-3 days at the point of ordering and then saying 15 days once you have ordered is clearly misleading. On top of that, I ordered exactly the same Dell PC with another supplier on Amazon and got next day delivery for the same price. Remind me why we should be ordering direct with Dell again??

Direct from Dell items are built to order or in small quantities. When your order is in production they build it then ship it. Generally it only takes 2 to 3 business days, however some times issues arise that cause delays. Amazon or their 3rd party stores order a quantity of machines and thus can sometimes ship them out faster, however you can run into warranty issues when ordering from places like Amazon and Ebay.

Well Dell should have a caviat at the ordering stage and not tell people it will be 2 or 3 days when it will be 15. At no point are you given the choice to accept a longer delivery. ie We tell you 2-3 days, so order now and then after ordering you say well actually it's 15 days - it fails to deliver on a promise. At least ordering on Amazon delivers on the promise. Before you pay, you are told when it will arrive! It is a con and now I am fighting for a refund. This happened to me a few years ago and took months to get the refund - I suspect I will have exactly the same problem this time. I should have known not to do business direct with Dell again and will make sure all staff members are aware not to order direct with Dell!

Try having bought and paid for a part at a store, the warranty is supposed to be next day, they are telling me it will ship 22 days from now, that makes it next month support not next day.

The problem you are having is the part availability. If Dell doesn't have the part and its on back order, they have to wait before they give it to the tech to use.

I am having the same issue, the laptop I bought was on sale and the shipping said 0-1 days. I have checked the status and the computer is built according to the tracker. Of course the laptop will still not arrive within the time the description stated and instead will arrive a week later. It was really misleading and no one in support could tell me why.

I ordered mini speakers and received an email 4 days later saying my order was delayed a month. I called Order Modification and was told that the email was an error since there were 501 of the same mini speaker in stock. I was also told that I would receive a call the following day to confirm shipment. Never got a call, not even an email. Called today to check on status and was told my order has been cancelled. They "kindly" said they would reorder the mini speakers for me but I wouldn't receive them for a month. I asked why does the Dell website show that it is in stock and I could receive it in 4-5 days with expedited shipping? Then they said they would make sure it ships today or tomorrow. They are even going to call me back to confirm it has shipped. Pardon me if I don't hold my breath waiting for that call!
