a device attached to the system is not functioning

Hi all,

I just made a new Cifs share, and all seems to be ok on the celerra.
When i try to connect to the cifs share from a Windows machine I get the below error:

"a device attached to the system is not functioning"

Anyone an idea??

double check your share configuration, make sure share points to a folder that exists on the file system.

running a server_checkup doesnt hurt and often points you towards problems in the config

Also please ensure - that the CIFS service is started on the NAS.

You may run a server_cifs server_x command to check whether it is running. Also can do the same from Celerra Manager GUI -. CIFS -> Configuration.

For continued issue on this - please feel free to open a Service Request with EMC Celerra Support and they can help you by checking the box.

Thanks,
Sandip

Hi,

Please, check if the usermapper is enabled, and the filesystem size.
This exact error message happens when it's too small.

Ok here it is.

I forgot to add it to the domain with the following command:
server_cifs vdm1 -J compname=ns-cifs52,domain=domain.lan,admin=user,ou="ou=Celerra:ou=Servers"

The above command is customize, but I think it's clear.
