This isn't something I've ever heard of happening (and we have plenty of CLARiiONs in our environment).
I'm assuming you are setting this up yourself, and not using an EMC CE to do the work? If you have a support contract with the array you should definately open a case with EMC support.
In mine understanding that is correct, when you are configuring an CX3 series normally when you type SP-A IP you are actually working on SP-B. if you want to do changes on SPA you must log on SPB.
I've been working on CLARiiON arrays since the old FC series and I've never heard anything like this. When I connect to the IP for spA on any of my arrays I am actually on spA.
I think the confusion lies in the Service LAN port vs. Management LAN port on CX3 UltraScale Series. On the CX3¿s SP A¿s Service LAN port services SPB and SP B¿s Service LAN port services SPA¿
