Alienware 17-R4, non-supported Linux drivers

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up this laptop 2nd hand and have been puzzled trying to install several flavors of Debian Linux on it and was wondering if anyone has had any luck? While most editions install fine (with the exception of Bluetooth + NVME support requiring an extra driver or two), they will not produce a GUI without editing the grub file to include nomodeset and thus using the built in Nouveau/Intel driver but refuse to boot with the stock Nvidia drivers with the following  tutorial I've linked below.

Until Project Proton improves for Linux, this will be remain a  dual boot configuration but will transition into a Linux only machine and thus im wondering if anyone has had better luck than I when trying to deploy this type of configuration.

Nvidia Linux Optimus driver installation w/ Nouveau blacklist

Laptop specs (removed the link because it showed your private service tag number)

Thanks in advance!
