Replacement liquid cooling for Aurora

Hi there,

I have an Aurora R1. Recently, CPU temps on full load are around 80C. Used to be 60C. Cleaning out the case and replacing the cooling paste (arctic silver 5) did not help.
So my guess is the liquid cooling system has seen its best days. Can anyone tell me where I can order a new one (could not find it on the Dell / Alienware website)?
Or is there a fully compliant alternative (given the specific Alienware BIOS and connections)?
Thanks and happy new year!
Bas

I usually suggest Dell parts (preferably new) because they are plug-and-play.

If you want to retro-fit retail parts into proprietary Dell, search is your friend:

As far as I know, its just a standard cooler that has some graphics for alienware put on.

Best wishes for 2016!

Do you know what brand/type of liquid cooling is used?

The liquid cooling has a connection to the motherboard called 'CPU pump'. Is this a standard connection (I have never seen it before on other motherboards) or is it propietary Alienware?

What I have found out so far:

- Dell does not sell its stock cooling to out-of-warranty customers

- the stock cooler for the R4 is the 5560W Asetek, and is (probably) compatible with the R1

- one guy succesfully built-in a Corsair H80i cooler in his R1

To make my original questions more specific:

- I could find the 5560W Asetek available in the US, does anyone know where I can get one in Europe?

- The H80i is a bit pricy. I don't want to upgrade, I'm just looking for a solid replacement. Does anyone have experience with a Corsair H55 or H60? Or the very affordable Cooler Master Seidon 120V v2?

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS: I'm running my i7 920 @ 3.33Ghz (3.5 Ghz /w turbo), default vcore.

If Dell Spare Parts doesn't have them, you can get from 3rd party. I got a nice (used "working pull" part) from a reputable eBay Vendor.

So my (Asetek) 01YGW is waiting on shelf for my 5 year old Aurora-R1.

Thanks Tesla. The cheapest 01YGW I could find online still cost $200 (incl shipping). That's twice as much as Corsair's H80i (or 4x a  Cooler Master Seidon 120V v2). It's pretty steep for a 6 year old rig (which by the way still does all the tasks I need it to).

What would you recommend: 01YGW or H80i? Or will an H60 do just fine?

Thanks. I never searched for 'retro-fit' :-)

Great link, also discussing the various Corsair models.

So, basicallly for me it comes down to:

1) get an 01YGW (easy, integrated, but expensive)

2) install a Corsair H60 (easy, but not integrated)

3) retrro-fit an H60 (most work, but integrated)

I'll study the forum discussion some more and see if I feel confident enough to create my own adapter cable. If so, then option 3) it is!
