How to change GPU for Alienware Laptop?

I bought an Alienware Laptop since 12/2014. It has the Nvidia GTX860m 2GB. Can I change it? Because now it seems like a little bit too old for newest games.

Doing any upgrades to your laptop doesn't void the warranty. It just won't be covered by warranty.

Here are the Alienware-tested GPUs you can upgrade to.

  • GTX 770m
  • GTX 780m
  • R9 m290x
  • GTX 880m

Here are some community-tested GPUs that require more than just a simple swap-and-play.

  • GTX 970m
  • GTX 980m

I suggest going to notebookreview's forum if you plan on getting a GTX 900m series GPU. The comprehensive manual, found on Dell's support site, gives you step-by-step instructions on dissembling and re-assembling the laptop. No need to contact Dell.

I think it is Alienware 17 R1, because it was made by 18,12,2014

What's the model of the Alienware?

Alienware 15 R1

Alienware 17 R1/R2

If it's an R1, it is possible to replace it.
