Has Anyone Gotten Alien Respawn to Work After Upgrading to Windows 10?

I successfully updated my x51 R2 machine to Windows 10.  But Alien Respawn did not appear to be a program that "made it over" during the installation.

Once I realized that, I downloaded the latest version of Alien Respawn I could find (1.7.5.64-exe).  It seems to install correctly, but once you try to run it (after the reboot), it kicks back with an error mid-way through and that's the end of that.

My guess is that it is simply not compatible with Windows 10.

Has anyone else been able to use it to back up files after upgrading to Windows 10?

finally - this has been bugging me for ages and at last i seem to have an explanation.

Have an alienware 13 r2 and accidentally installed a version of chrome that came with loads of malware - tried to do a factory reset and every time i install dell recovery i get an error message saying 'access denied' - how can dell ship these machines without the correct supported software??

Here are my stats:

Bought Area-51 R2 with Windows 8.1 installed

Contemplated clonezilla but went with AlienRespawn (free)

Upgraded to Windows 10

AR stopped working, bought Premium

Attempted update of AR with premium status (LOL)

Fail, fail again, more failure.

Call support (multiple conversations with very nice chaps down in Costa Rica, "I dream of Costa Rica in the morning" [sic])

No progress

It appears that the update of AR corrupted the HD, ordered home visit by tech to replace HD under contract.

Still no luck.

After hours I ask about the BIOS update, turns out A01 should be A03.

We update BIOS

AR installs but we don't update to the latest (Windows 8 version)

Backup is successful

Moral of the story is if you have Windows 10

1) BE SURE your BIOS are up to date.

2) Reinstall AR but DO NOT run the update.

Why would I run an update tagged for Wiindows 8 on a Windows 10 os anyway.

Makes not sense.

BTW: Respawn is developed by a third party software company, not Dell.

Now you pay double or go away.

"Dell_Backup_and_Recovery_1.9.0.22.exe"....but it installs

alienrespawn on alien systems.

Same issue here, but I'm going to try this to see if I can swap out the drive to an SSD drive.

Alien-Respawn and/or BDaR is not supported under Windows-10.

Your only chance to use it is if you made a stand-alone USB Flash drive before upgrading/switching OS. But even if it does work, it would only take you back to old Windows.

Windows-10 has it's own built-in backup and recovery tools now.
