HDMI Input, good video, no audio - M17x R3

Hello,

I have had my computer for a year now and I am now attempting to use it with my PS3 via HDMI Input.

I was able to get the video, but none of my attempts at getting the audio working, has worked.

I tried doing the registry method, updated IDT driver, nVidia Driver, everything that I could find.

In the nVidia control panel, the 3 options are grayed out and not usable.

I modified the PS3's audio output to see if that would have an effect, it did not.

Please help!

Hello MichaelMitchellM,

- Open the system playback devices.

- Right click and check mark these options "Show Disable Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices"

- Highlight the HDMI audio device and click on the Set Default button.

Let me know how it goes.

Not sure about nVidia and/or Intel Hybrid video solutions, but ...

On AMD, the HDMI audio device is a function of the video card ... and supported by the video driver.

Hello,

Yes I have tried this,

and since I reinstalled the IDT Audio Codec, it will no longer show the HDMI In or the HD audio thing ( I forgot about that one ). I have clicked the option to Show the Disabled devices, and there is nothing more there. :/

I'm experiencing this same issue. It's kinda daunting because I see this same problem over google, yet I see no fixes for it anywhere.

Hi Taryntino77,

Check this article to confirm the audio priorities are set properly.

Updating the discrete card's driver to the latest from the manufacturer works as well, if not, please send me a private message.

I have tried all workarounds in this thread and others.  None have worked.  I plugged the HDMI in the HDMI "in" on the M17x R4.  I've gone to sounds>playback and it shows no hdmi connected.  I've gone to Soundblaster software and checked updated software and gone to mixer>HDMI and its turned up.  When I click on the settings button next to HDMI in Soundblaster there is no option to select "listen to this device".  I have tried all settings in Windows and through the PS3.  To be clear, when I plug a HDMI cable into the R4 I can get video but no sound.  On a few occasions it does show "please connect HDMI" when it is in fact already plugged in.  Any help?

I'm experiencing the same problem and also have not been able to get the HDMI input icon to appear in the Hardware and Sound.  I've downloaded the latest drivers and ran the Dell Analyzation tool to insure all the drivers are up to date.  What am I missing?

thanks

Robert
