Aurora R4 fans running at 100% after Windows 10 upgrade

After upgrading my Aurora R4 to Windows 10 I suddenly after about one week suddenly got problems with my command center and the control of fans and lighting.

When turning on my Alienware the fans are going to 100% speed and stays there. No control of the fans in Command Center, also not able to control them manually.

Tried reinstalling the Command Center multiple times. versions 3.5 and 3.6. Also tried the power drain between un-installing and installing. BIOS is A11.

Been considering buying a new MIO board but from reading other posts I don't think its failed as it seems like most of the issues related to fans running at 100% is related to the Windows 10 upgrade. Tried running the MIO diagnostic tools but it will not run through the test.

There is a blue LED turned on up in then left corner of the MIO board.

My understanding is that the MIO card is connected through a USB to the motherboard. Could it be issues with the USB driver causing this issue?

Does anybody know if Dell is working on a fix for this?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks

I have same exact problem on my Aurora R4 just upgraded to Windows 10.  I think this is a bug in Alienware Controller that Dell needs to fix asap (but probably won't fix soon, or ever).  It's not your MIO board because many others have this same issue and I don't think all these MIO boards just failed at the same time.

I hope Dell reads these forums because we need a software fix for this.

You can use a workaround and launch Command Center and go to Thermal Control.  Set the fans from automatic to manual at a set speed or use the curve.  Then reboot. This should pump the fans a few times on boot and shutdown but after startup the fans should settle down.

Also sleep no longer works on Windows 10 on the R4.  Putting PC to sleep works for a few minutes but it then wakes up and will not stay asleep.  Too bad Dell certified the R4 for windows 10 prematurely.  I would have never upgraded from my Windows 7 Pro had I known all these issues existed.

Hi.

Follow the steps on this thread to hopefully fix this problem. It has worked for several other users.

I would not hit Allienware 100% , but I will blame them for how they have ignored the multiple issues that ALL the Alienware utilities have had with .net frameworks.

As far as remaining with 7.1 - i REFUSED the upgrade to Windows 10. More than once i replied I DO NOT WANT IT! I have my settings NOT to accept anything from Microsft that *I* personally do not authorize.

But . behind my back Microsoft tweaked the OS (and the only reply I find it was so that Win 10 would be "more" compatible. ) and since then I get the Monzoon noise . It seems to rest for a few days and suddenly it is a plane taking off. In the midst of this Alienware added (again without my permission ) Dell Data Vault (I have no idea what that is) Dell data wizard and Dell support assistant. Someone on the forum hit on a possible solution . Disable Dell data Vault through MSCONFIG . I did that and the noise disappeared for a couple of days and then came back. Since I can NOT get a straight answer from Alienware I PAID MS and the result was "WINDOWS 10 is incompatible with the Aurora R4". BUT .. there will be a Win 10 upgrade (basically 10.1 ) which will be called Windows 10 anniversary edition. (YES they ARE getting THAT stupid) which supposedly changes the start menu , but they do not disclose what else is being changed .

I am guessing that it would be futile for Alienware to work on any fixes until this windows 10.1 is released.

The REALLY strange thing here is that although the FANS are blasting the temperature remains the same between 72F and 85F so the thermal detectors are NOT working properly.

Also I always had my VENTS FULLY OPENED . That does not work anymore, they NEVER open fully.

If anyone knows what that Dell Vault group of programs is . and can explain I'll appreciate it.

thanks

Hello, at some point in august or late july my W10 updated and I got the 100% fan issue aswell on my aurora R4.

This is how I "fixed" it:

Deinstall your current version of ACC

Download 2.8.11.0 -> www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

Install with W7 compability mode

Restart PC
