Alienware 18 HDMI Input Wii U Problem

So I've been trying to use the HDMI Input feature on my Alienware 18 for the Wii U. However I am running into a frustrating issue where the HDMI IN works for 20 seconds, then decides to stop working, then switch backing to working. For every 10-20 second interval it switches between Wii U and Desktop.

This is extremely frustrating since anytime this question has been asked here or elsewhere there has been NO solution, making me wonder why both putting an HDMI IN feature in the first place.

So I'm asking is there actually a solution to this are is this a useless feature? I've tried installing/reinstalling video drivers and changing HDMI cables. Could this be a problem with SLI? Does anyone even know the source of the problem?

Also when it does work for the 20 seconds, is there a way to increase the brightness of the screen, or are you stuck with the dim screen the entire time? Actual answers would be greatly appreciated to this problem for once.

Hi,

Have you tried different HDMI cables? You may want to try connecting it to your TV just to make sure its not a problem with the cable. We have never tested this so I cannot confirm if the dim screen is normal, did you try adjusting the brightness on the system?

I fixed the disconnecting reconnecitng issue using the registry fix posted here that came from Nvidia. Shows that this problem is a software problem and not a hardware problem. Different cables did not fix it prior to this, and the Wii U has worked fine with different cables and different TVs.

The dim screen has nothing to do with system brightness as my system is on maximum brightness, but when using HDMI Input proceeds to basically do to some sort of minimum. Using any way to increase brightness (FN+Brightness Up for example) does not work with the HDMI Input screen. It only effects desktop screen.

Hi just wondering, what OS / Driver version are you using for the working HDMI input?

I'm having issues with it as well, specifically that I'm getting a completely black screen (no video) but the audio from the hdmi input is working.

I lied there is no fix. Worked for a good while but returned to unusable. Windows 7 and all latest drivers. However there is no fix as Alienware/Dell/ Nvidia has given up on this feature and any support to it. Future recommendation is to just build a PC for cheaper and better quality.
