Alienware 15, Alienware Amplifier, No signal on external monitor

Hi,

I recently purchased a Alienware Laptop 15 together with a graphics amplifier. I also purchased MSI GeForce GTX980 to go in the amplifier.

The laptop connects nicely to the amplifier and my GTX 980 is recognised on the laptop - so no issues there. However, my amplifier is connected to my external monitor via HDMI from the graphics card directly to the monitor (obviously the only way you can connect an external monitor through the Alienware Amplifier), and my monitor is showing no signal?

To narrow it down to a problem with the graphics card/Amplifier, I connected the monitor directly to my laptop and it displayed fine.

I have made sure all of the drivers for the graphics card are up to date.

Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Have you tried swapping the display options in the control panel? (It needs to be in extended of it to work).

I have the same problem with a Nvidia Quadro K4200 and 3x HP 27" FHD Monitors connect with HDMI -> DVI. No external display is found. When i attach them to my Alienware 15 directy they work.

I have the same problem. The answer below doesn't make sense to me. I can't get the control panel to recognize that there is another monitor connected, so I don't understand how I can "swap" them in the Control Panel.

Anyone able to give me some "baby steps" to follow to get this set up, please? I greatly appreciate any help at all.

Hi, i solved the problem by reinstalling the nvidia display drivers with the amplifier and three attached monitors. While installing all monitors came to life. Maybe this helps.
