XPS 8940 won't power on

xps won't power on. Tried replacing the power supply and it still won't turn on. The green light comes on for a few seconds on the poser supply but then goes out. Pressing the power button on the front doesn't do anything. Does the motherboard have and on/off switch?

Only on/off switch is the one on front of PC.

Sure the new PSU is compatible with the XPS 8940 and functional?  Try running the PSU BIST by following the instructions for PCs without a PSU test button.

Did you double-check all the connections to motherboard, including the ones from front panel?

Possibly a failed power button module...?

Assuming you have a test button on the PSU, when you press it does the green light come on and the fans start to run? Try pulling the CMOS battery for 15 minutes and then reinstall it. Disconnect everything from the PSU except the MB and try to boot up. It is also possible that you have a PSU problem but the only way to be sure is try another PSU.
